STAMP COLLECTION

Picture

The objective was to create a commemorative stamp collection and a layout for the stamps to be placed into. I chose to add a modern and humorous twist by honoring the "Frat Pack" - a group of comedic actors who appear alongside each other in many popular movies. Since the name of the group is a parody of the "Rat Pack" of the 1950's, I ran with the Vegas/Swinger/Retro theme. The individual stamps portrayed each actor in a 50's Hollywood style headshot. The full collection of stamps is seen below, right.

In the actual printing, the stamps are hidden behind a glass door (see photo below, left). Once opened, the stamps are revealed.

CALENDAR

Picture
Our goal was to create a non-traditional yet functional calendar for a particular Month, celebrating a certain event or holiday taking place. I chose May and used "The National Month of Physical Fitness" as the theme. The entire calendar is comprised of brackets commonly used in professional sport tournaments; a different exercise is listed for each day of the month, designed to guide the user to reaching his or her "dream body".

PLAYING CARD COLLECTION

Picture

"Rock & Roll" Hall of Fame Commemorative Playing Card Collection. Used bold, vibrant letters to portray an almost abstract "rock and roll" vibe. The four of clubs is meant to resemble the top of a guitar; The three of diamonds portrays a circular concert stadium (the diamonds represent the audience); Elvis was obviously used as "The King", while Freddie Mercury fronts the card bearing the same name as his band, "Queen". Custom made logo on the back of each card.

AMERICAN FLAG RE-IMAGINING

Picture

Mission was a "re-imaging" of the American flag. It is very difficult to create something different out of such a well recognized symbol. My flag represented "the golden road to progress". I kept the traditional American flag colors as well as the stars and stripes and added gold. The flag can be viewed in it's current state, or held to the right. Each way, it is meant to symbolize the progressive path our nation is on, in tolerance, peace, and innovation.

The second part of the project was to take our new flag and somehow use it in a political poster expressing our current views of the country. This was created just weeks after President Barack Obama was inaugurated into office. The poster shows the President walking along the "golden road to progress" as he is about to assume office and guide the country along that same path.
